UPDATE from Australia Post – as at June 9th, 2020

Australia Post has been working hard to continue to deliver for you and your customers during the COVID-19 pandemic. We’re also aiming to keep you updated with the latest information about international delivery time frames.

As you may recall, a few weeks ago we mentioned that we’d secured additional air freight capacity. I’m now pleased to report that we’ve uplifted significant volumes for our key overseas destinations, especially for New Zealand and United States of America (USA).

Over the last two weeks, all aged items (this means items that have been scanned but awaiting transport) have now left Australia and have been or are in the process of being delivered to your customers with only the most recent items still on hand.

Additional airline capacity has now been secured on a weekly basis to provide a more regular and reliable service. As such, we’re pleased to be able to provide improved delivery speeds for some of our services including for mainland Europe with Standard Services moving via air freight again instead of sea freight.

We have also re-commenced accepting Express items to Canada. Despite an increase in airline capacity in many destinations, COVID-19 is still impacting delivery service expectations.

The USA is being heavily impacted by high volumes through their facilities and civil unrest in addition to COVID-19.

Japan Post are also seeing significant delays to their standard service. Notwithstanding our best endeavours, it is therefore likely that some items will take longer than the stated delivery times and we ask for your understanding.

We will be closely monitoring our delivery performance against these new standards to ensure we continue to provide you with realistic delivery timeframes.

As always, we will continue to regularly update auspost.com.au with all of the latest information about expected international delivery timeframes. Thank you and stay safe. Kind regards, Gary Starr Executive General Manager Business, Government & International
